Frozen Review

This is one of my kids favourite movies. My eldest loves Elsa and is all about her being on the screen at all times (even though that isn’t how the film works) and my youngest loves the music and characters especially Anna. I have seen this movie so many times, I know pretty much, most of the script and songs off by heart!

Disney has done a pretty good job to make a movie that keeps kids wanting more and never getting bored of the songs (except they forget about the poor parents that have to endure it, well I assume they forget about us). I have been lucky enough that I don’t have to listen to “Let It Go” on repeat all day every day yet. But with Frozen 2 coming out next year and my kids probably will be at more of an age to be more into the “Frozen Fever”.. I’m in trouble next year.

The visual effects and storyline are excellent and the songs are catchy and easy to remember. If you do watch this movie for the first time, I have to admit I did find the final villain of the film unexpected but now that I have seen it enough times it is not all that unexpected anymore.

Fifty Shades of Grey Review

This movie is based on the first novel “Fifty Shades of Grey” by E.L James. I have read all the novels of the Grey Series and had a certain portrayal of it all in my head. To be honest it was pretty close to the mark. Obviously, they leave out some scenes that are in the book (like other movies that are based off novels do too) but they still get the job done and I wasn’t disappointed. I know this movie has had mixed reviews based on the difference between book and movie but also the controversial themes that are shown as well.

I think the actors and actresses do a great job in this film especially Dakota Johnson who plays Anastasia Steele as it wouldn’t be easy filming such controversial scenes and baring your body like that to the world. All the actors and actresses would of felt the pressure to live up to the books as it is a best selling series and very well known around the world, so I think because of that they have done exceptionally well.

Realistically this movie is for more mature audiences and those who know it is fiction and not real life.

Love, Simon Review

I find this movie so refreshing. It made me laugh, cry and reflect on why people hold so much back and keep secrets. This movie has its own charm and way of showing that it is okay to be vulnerable and that their are people out there who will love you no matter what.

The support Simon receives when he is outed, is probably what most gay people would love. The support from his family, friends, peers and teachers is so overwhelming. Of course it comes with some drama and tension as Simon was being blackmailed by another peer. And to try keep his secret hidden, he tries to protect his anonymous gay friend safe but it causes a huge tension between Simon and his friends, when they work out he was playing them off to get his own way.

I found it completely unfair that his blackmailer outed him, out of desperation, but I think we have all made mistakes out of desperation, to understand where he was coming from.

All in all, this movie is a movie everyone should see! It does have some explicit themes and language but it all gets the point across in it’s own way.

Gossip Girl Review

This show is full of drama, many different relationships and mystery. Gossip Girl is another show with a cult following; it finished at Season 6 in 2012.

The show revolves around Gossip Girl who is an anonymous blogger and spills gossip about the people of the Upper East Side. Gossip Girls sources are everyday people who send in tips to her about things they have seen or heard. Gossip Girl mainly concentrates one a handful of characters, who she blogs about most. Guessing who Gossip Girl is throughout the show is part of the fun and even the characters sometimes take a crack at trying to work out who it is.

The drama and relationship triangles just add to the show (I know I have screamed a few times at the TV about certain relationships not suiting what I wanted)

There are explicit themes used throughout the series, so it is for more mature audiences.

If you like/d Pretty Little Liars then this show is definitely for you and vice versa.

Incredibles 2 Review

I was so excited to see this movie, since this sequel took 14 years! But I have to say I was kinda disappointed. I was expecting to much more from it, then what was delivered. I did have some good laughs throughout the movie and did still find it a great movie for kids to watch and enjoy.

I think if this film was released sooner (due to where the movie plot takes place) I would of enjoyed it more but to wait 14 years in real life to only move to the next minute in their world and carry on from there, just made me disappointed. My eldest loved the first movie and even loved watching this sequel, that he even had a few giggles at the visually funny parts.

It was great to see some characters storylines (and powers) expand a bit more, and the movie visual effects etc were still great for an animation.

Hart of Dixie Review

This medical dramedy tells the story of a young woman who is rediscovering who she is while learning to become a better doctor. It contains some interesting plot lines about her patients, but most of the show’s focus is on the romantic tensions and relationships between various characters.

It’s pretty mild compared to other doctor-centered shows, but it contains themes like unexpected pregnancies, infidelity, and racism. It definitely has some heart, and teens who like this kind of drama will find it very entertaining.

I do really like this show and do enjoy the drama and comedy included in this show that makes it interesting and entertaining to watch.

Pretty Little Liars Review

Pretty Little Liars is a relationship drama filled with fun, mystery, intrigue, and secrets.
I grew up through my teenage years watching this TV show and I am definitely a fan of the show. When it came out, it was different to any other show I’d seen and it’s main target audience was for teenagers. With the protagonists changing and the mystery behind who is torturing/messing with them, brings so much thought to the viewer and it keeps you guessing constantly!

This TV Show has definitely had a cult following for years as it ran for 7 Seasons, and I am not ashamed to say I am apart of it. If you are into teenage drama and mystery then this is definitely the show for you!

The Greatest Showman Review

This movie is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! It’s easily one of my favourite musicals! With a star studded cast and fantastic music, it was always set to be a soaring success! I cannot give enough praise for this movie. It has such a compelling storyline, which just adds to the whole package and just makes it amazing.

I highly recommend this to those who aren’t overly into musicals, as it may just be the doorway to make you want to watch more of them. There are a lot of songs (as that is a common complaint with people who aren’t into musicals) but the storyline doesn’t make it obvious and it flows so well!

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before Review

If you love a good brat-pac movie, then look no further than this one. With the enticing storyline and actors, it’s hard not to like this movie. It’s definitely a movie that makes you believe in teenage romance, and is realistic in some ways of what teenagers have or will go through in their own way. It’s also refreshing to see it’s not “all about sex”, like most teen movies. Don’t get me wrong, there is obviously hints and talk about it but Lara Jean is portrayed as a strong willed woman and a hopeless romantic, so you can tell she won’t be jumping into bed with just anyone. Which I think is fantastic for young women to see as they can learn it’s not all about sex.

This Netflix movie is based on the novel “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” and there is a series of books (so I’m sure we are all hoping there will be at least a sequel to this movie)
